Home again today

I an home sick again! It is so much fun. I am not looking forward to staying home all day.

I bought Ki Sun breakfast after I decided not to go into work. He was gone though, and I don't know where he went. He's probably out doing stuff.

Anyway, I will try my best to get better. Have a good day everyone. I will do some much needed resting and catching up on my homework.

Sick and Tired...Literally

So I woke up this morning and I could not stop coughing. I debated on whether or not to go to work, if I bought some cold medicine. However, my chest started hurting badly, so I called my mom at 4:30 a.m. her time (sorry Mom!) and asked her if I should go into work. I always need another opinion about these things because I feel guilty for calling in sick.

I ended up calling in at 8 a.m. but didn't hear anything back from work. I assumed that a lot of people called in because of the heavy snow today. Work may have been closed. Who knows.

After I called in, I decided to go to Chapel Hill Urgent Care. Yes, I was driving in the bad snow. The roads were not clear, as we do not have many trucks to clear the roads. Weather here sparsely includes snow. I got to the Urgent Care place, and they were closed. I was pissed. I decided to drive back home as slowly and safely as I could. I slept until 3:30.

I got up at 3:30 and decided to try Chapel Hill Urgent Care again. They were closed the whole day, so I dragged my sick ass down to the Duke Urgent Care. They were open, thank goodness. I made sure to get a doctors note. They told me that I had bronchitis, an upper respiratory infection. The girl that told me said, "Congratulations. You are now the proud owner of an upper respiratory infection, also known as Bronchitis!". She said it with such enthusiasm, I almost thought I won something. Then I quickly realized that my respiratory system hated me. My excitement was now non existant. The chest pain I was experiencing was due to an inflamed respiratory system. Go figure.

It is now almost the end of the day, and the cable went out. I just wanted to watch Fringe. Is that too much to ask? I guess so. Boo on cable for going off without even a single warning. It is not fair.

I will go to work tomorrow. I hate calling in sick. I want to get better. I will soon enough.

Daily Funnies

The Prime Smokehouse

This place is a classic southern style food restaurant. Excellent food, and more importantly, excellent jazz. I went there on Friday expecting just to hear a saxophone in the background as I enjoyed my meal. I was surprised when I heard John Coltrane tunes as well as Dizzy Gillespie classics!

The band consisted of 2 highly talented trumpets, one saxophone, one drummer, and one keyboard. You know how when you listen to a band, there is usually one player that is not as strong as the rest? This was not the case for this band at all. They are called "The Brian Miller Band".

My co-worker is married to Brian Miller. He is by far the best saxophone player I have heard to date. I found out about this originally through a jazz meetup. I found out later that one of my co-workers was married to the player! Al, one of my jazzy co-workers wanted to go. I told him that Semaj and I were going to attend. We ended up having the best Friday night ever!!!

Aside from the excellent music that made the atmosphere just to die for, the food is excellent and the staff and owner are the friendliest! I got the best service there, and it's been a while.

The Prime Smokehouse is 45 minutes away from where I live, but it is by far, worth it to go. The owner's name is Ed Wiley III, and his father, a very famous saxophone player is Ed Wiley Jr. He is 78 years old and is still very active in his musical pursuits. Amazing.

If you ever stop by North Carolina to visit, I will definitely take you there. Just remember to come on a Friday or Saturday night, because that's when the good Jazz comes out to play. Have a good night all, and listen to some great jazz!

Last day of my long weekend.

It's sad. I went to bed at 9:47pm and woke up around 3:36am. I stayed up until 6 a.m. then went to sleep again. I woke up around 8am and fed the cats. It's going to be an odd day as far as sleep goes.

I will probably go to sleep again a little later. I finished my book and am starting on Tremor. I forgot the author's name.

I shall probably eat something and go to sleep, or vise verse. I hope everyone had a good weekend. Be well.

The New Year

has already started. I was lucky enough to get a 4 day weekend this week. Hope everyone had a good new years eve! I spent it at home with Semaj and Ki Sun, with of course, three cats. It's a big household here.

I'm going to get ready to do my laundry and take a shower. Hope everyone's weekend goes smoothly. Tata.
